Çağatay Kenarlı / Istanbul, Jan 12 () - A blast erupted in Istanbul’s central Sultanahmet district, on Jan. 12.

The blast has left 10 people killed, 15 injured, according to Istanbul Governorate.

While police officers accent on a possibility of suicide bomb attack, the cause of the blast has not been identified so far. Footages have been feared to show lifeless bodies on the ground, at the scene.

The incident occured at around 10.20 a.m. at the Sultanahmet Square. Ambulances have been racing in and out, while police officers surrounded the touristic area.

Meanwhile, two people were hospitalized to Haseki Hospital in the region.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing.
