Istanbul, Sep 16 () - The Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) made a statement regarding the detainment of their board member Memduh Boydak, Vice Chairman of Boydak Holding, along with 10 other executives, stating “We would like to raise concern over the darksome atmosphere threatening the business world perpetually with severe accusations and we urge that this course of events should be ended”.

Turkish police has detained 11 people in Central Anatolian province of Kayseri, including executives of a conglomerate and university officials, within an operation that targeted supporters of a U.S.-based cleric, accused by President Tayyip Erdoğan of plotting a coup.

The written statement urged, “In a law state, none of the institutions, including the business world, are exempted of any sort of legal inspections and interrogations; everything should be transparent. However, right to a fair trial and need of preventing damage over personal rights and respectability are a must, thus, legal procedures should be swiftly terminated”.

“As a responsible representation business organization, we will be following the developments to assure that legal procedures are resumed with respect to sensitivities” said TÜSİAD.
