Ali Aksoyer - Cengiz Çoban- Arzu Kaya / Istanbul, Jan 26 () - In central Istanbul, a 19-year-old young woman was sexually assaulted by an unidentified attacker armed with a knife in Kadıköy district’s Bağdat Street. The suspect who was sent to court said he has “yielded to temptation” during police testimonial.

The court arrested the attacker who ultimately confessed his crime. Investigations revealed that Cengiz A., a shuttle driver, had a wide registration file for offenses such as using drugs, fraud and robbery.

The suspected attacker, 34-year-old Cengiz A. has followed university student E.F.B as she was returning from Kadıköy after having dinner with friends, on Jan. 24, in Istanbul’s high-end neighborhoods.

The woman had disembarked from a minibus and was proceeding toward her home in the Bostancı neighborhood when she was attacked by the assailant, who allegedly closed the girl’s mouth and dragged her to the backyard of an apartment near her house before sexually assaulting her.

The attacker has stolen her money and mobile phone after having raped her. The young girl, down at the heels, has arrived at her apartment. Police has launched investigation after her complaint.

Police department identified the description of the suspect as well as his shuttle through security camera and followed him towards Pendik district.

The suspect who is married with two children has confessed his crime and said “he regretted”. Police teams found the mobile phone of the young girl in his house.

It is not the first time that the neighborhood made the headlines. Murathan Öztürk, a law student, hitflower seller Mehmet Emin Kaya, 34, with his luxury car on Bağdat Avenue on July 11, 2015. Öztürk was exceeding the speed limit when the accident occurred and fled the scene. However, he was caught on Oct. 6, 2015, after 87 days on the run.
