Siyamend Kaçmaz / Moscow, Feb 25 () - Russia’s Gazprom said it has significantly reduced natural gas flow to Turkey from Feb. 10.

Turkey’s demand of natural gas has been increasing during winter season and the flow has risen from Jan. 2016 by 3.4 percent, according to Russian media.

However, the gas supply to Turkey dropped by 10 percent against Feb. 10 2015 and this decrease reached 50 percent last week.

According to the last report on Feb. 24, Russia supplied Turkey 26.7 million cubic meters of gas, with a decrease by 40 percent against last year.

Officials explained the decision by “weather conditions” as the temperature reached 19 C on Feb. 15-16 in Istanbul

However, a source close to Turkey’s Ministry of Energy said the real reason was related to the dissensus between companies and Gazprom on prices. Thus, Russia delivers private companies a decreasing amount of gas, the source said.
