Istanbul, Feb 19 () - The consumer confidence index that is calculated from the results of the consumer tendency survey has been dropping by high rates for the third time in a row.

According to a survey carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the confidence index fell by 7 percent in Feb. compared to the previous month, while the index was 71.62 in Jan., it decreased to 66.64 in Feb.

The consumer confidence index calculated from the survey results is evaluated within the range of 0-200. It indicates an optimistic outlook when the index is above 100, but it indicates a pessimistic

Financial situation expectation falls by 3.1 pct.

The financial situation expectation of household index dropped by 3.1 percent compared to the previous month. The index which was 92.17 in Jan., became 89.31 in Feb.

This drop stemmed from the decrease in the ratio of people expecting better financial situation of household in the next 12 months period, said the survey report.

General economic situation expectation falls by 5.9 pct.

Meanwhile, the general economic situation expectation index which was 95.65 in Jan. decreased by 5.9 percent and became 90.03 in Feb.

This decrease demonstrates the number of consumers who expected a better general economic situation in the next 12 months fell compared to the previous month.

Number of people unemployed expectation drops by 10.1 pct.

The number of people unemployed expectation index fell by 10.1 percent compared to the previous month and became 66.17 in Feb. This decrease resulted from the fall in the ratio of people expecting a decrease in the number of unemployed persons in the next 12 months.

Probability of saving declines by 16.1 pct.

The probability of saving index decreased by 16.1 percent from 25.09 in Jan. to 21.05 in Feb. This decrease shows that the possibility of saving of consumers in the next 12 months period fell compared to the previous month.

In monthly consumer tendency survey, consumers’ assessments on current situation and their expectations for personal financial standing and general economic situation have been evaluated, their expenditure and saving tendencies for near future have been measured.
