Fatih Daldal / Çanakkale, Jan 26 () - In Aegean province of Çanakkale, toxic substances have covered the water surface after heavy rainfall increased the water level of Bayramiç Dam, in the outskirts of Kaz Mountains.

The dam has been used for agricultural irrigation in the region as well as potable water during summer season.

Pesticide and drug containers filled with toxic substances, as well as rubbles and firewood appeared over the dam water surface, after winter season.

In Üzümlü Village, around two hectares of the region has been filled with islets of wastes.

Inhabitants reiterated they have been facing this problem every year and slammed officials’ lack of effort to find a solution. “These wastes cause health threats for inhabitants” said Ergin Özen, a resident of Bayramiç, urging officials to solve the problem.
