Öykü Altuntaş / Antalya, Nov 15 () - The Civil 20 (C20) and Women 20 (W20) have made a joint press briefing at the G20 Summit in Turkey’s Antalya and suggested certain measures to be taken by G20, in a bid to make commitments on gender issues and reevaluate the economy to help women realize their potential.

Women earn the 77 percent of the wage men earn, urged the statement, having added that gender inequalities continue in G20 economies and others. Inequality in wages was defined as a crucial issue to be solved.

The irregular labor mostly involves women, struggling to survive in informal jobs with low safety levels, according to the statement.

The chairs called on G20 countries to recognize and reduce cheap maintenance labor and stressed a renewed structure should be offered which support the work-private life balance, thus issues like child care, elderly care and social protection.

Also, in informal and rural economies, all the parts of the society should be supported with employment, women cooperatives and micro, small and medium enterprises, the statement underlined.

The C20 and W20 Chairs added the G20 should consider these suggestions in order to go beyond the rhetoric, with respect to efforts for strengthening women in the economy.
