Hüseyin Asliyüce / Istanbul, Oct 1 () - Republican People’s Party (CHP) Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu referred to the assault against Daily Hürriyet columnist Ahmet Hakan late on Oct.1, at Ataturk Airport on his way to Lyon, for his second Europe tour in run up to Nov. 1 elections.

Having noted he has called Ahmet Hakan this morning after the attack, Kılıçdarğolu told reporters, “I am deeply sorry. The respected journalist has been threatened with death at first. Recently, he encountered physical assault. The fact that tension grows to this point raise concerns for us.”

“We aspire that the government would take careful and consistent steps against assaults over media” urged Kılıçdaroğlu, adding that this way, security forces would manage to do their share of task for capturing the real offenders.
