Hüsnü Evren / Balıkesir, Jan 5 () - A large number of bodies believed to belong to refugees who were attempting to cross to Greece have washed up in the Aegean district of Ayvalık.

The bodies began washing up on the morning of Jan. 5 on the shore of a housing development, Martı Site, in Ayvalık’s Altınova Neighborhood.

Coast Guard teams are conducting search operations at sea to locate any more refugees, while gendarmerie teams are also scouring the coastline for signs of other migrants.
