Hatay, Nov 27 () - In Bayırbucak region of northern Syria, Turkmens seized back the control of Kızıldağ hill in Turkmen Mountain.
While the tension continues in the region after the shot down of Russian jet by Turkish F-16s in Syria, Kızıldağ hill, where the Russian SU-24 crashed, has been amidst a handover and power struggle between Turkmens and Assad forces.
Recent reports said that the mount was seized back by Turkmen units from 6 a.m. on Nov. 27, after they have launched an attack late at night against Assad forces. Assad units have been pushed back over air and ground strikes two days earlier.
Units under the 2nd coastal command have been in ongoing clashes with Assad forces, despite the push back in Kızıldağı region.
The Çümenerek village, located in the upper region of Yamadi tent camp, where Turkmen women and children also reside, was bombed throughout the night, said local reports.
According to Turkish military officials, the Turkish border has been opened to Turkmens, however despite the crossing into Turkey of a group of 80 people, the transitions to the country from the region were blocked.
Also, infrastructure works have been boosted in the tent city located in Güveççi Neighborhood of Yayladağı district, said officials.
Local Turkmens and the forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad have been in clashes to secure control of the hill close to the Turkmen-dominated Bayırbucak region in northwestern Syria.
