Dilara Erdinç / Çanakkale, Dec 21 () – Some 45 migrants seeking to cross into Greek island of Lesbos were rescued by coast guard teams off Ayvacık district in Çanakkale province, on early Dec. 21.

The migrants who have fled Iran and Afghanistan have set sail from Behramkale village coast with an inflatable boat. The group has got stranded in the Aegean Sea, after the boat’s engine has got broken.

Fishermen in a fishing boat near the scene noticed the migrants while they were struggling to fix the broken engine, then informed the coast guard teams.

Some 45 migrants were put ashore by coast guard boats, to Küçükkuyu coast. Teams sent the migrants to Ayvacık Removal Center after necessary procedures, having given them some food, water and clothes.
