Öykü Altuntaş / Istanbul, Oct 30 () - A new mobile application developed by a group of programmers in Turkey help users detained by police officers to reach relatives, friends, convey the information of detainment and share location. The app is called “I am under surveillance”.

Users send three contacts, identified in advance, through SMS, by pressing the button. Application of the programmer team, Atölye15, uses SMS rather than internet networks, to convey information at the moment.

The app can be used in Android smart phones, and will be offered to İOS users soon.

A domestic security bill prepared by Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has stirred a debate in the country, slammed by opposition parties, arguing that the bill would give draconian powers to the police.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has signed the controversial domestic security bill into law, which grants more powers to the police and governors, despite objection, in April 2015.
