Adana, Feb. 3 () - An Air Force MQ-1 Predator used by U.S. for the coalition’s fight against the Islamic State (IS) has crashed near the center of Turkey’s southeastern province of Adana 1.40 a.m. local time on Feb. 3.
The aircraft crashed in an unpopulated area and there were no military or civilian injuries, according to the statement by 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs.
“The initial assessment is that the aircraft experienced mechanical failure. An investigation is underway to determine the specific cause of the crash” read the statement.
The U.S. military and Turkish officials “have positive control of the crash site”.
