Mehmed Hakkı Özbayır / Manisa, Aug 13 () - In Aegean province of Manisa, barbers told the fact that long beard are indentified with members of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has dealt blow in “beard trend” among men in the city.

President of Chamber of Barbers and Hairdressers in Manisa, Ali Bartu, said that inhabitants keep flocking to barbershops in recent days to cut their beards, in fear to look like ISIL members.

“Long beards were all in fashion. Everybody was growing their beards, which has dealt a major blow to our business. However after the inhabitants saw the ISIL members’ beards, they feared to look like those people who are responsible of a ferocity” added Bartu, happy with the result.

Some nineteen ISIL members have been captured in Manisa, amid terror alert across Turkey. “Following the attacks and detainments, inhabitants cut their beards although they like them, in fear of drawing a rebuff from the public. Thus ISIL has targeted the fashion of hairdressing this time. However this development boosted our businesses” commented Ali Bartu.

İrfan Topçu is one of those inhabitants who had to give up on his look. “I saw the ISIL members everywhere on TV. I had a long beard but now I am cutting them. I don’t want to look like ISIL members” told Topçu.
