Ankara, Aug 6 () - The Peoples’ Democratic Part co-chairs Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş applied to the United Nations (UN) and requested an investigation on “unlawful, arbitrary and extrajudicial executions” in Turkey, within the UN mechanisms, announced the HDP press office on Aug 6.

The application letter to Christof Heyns - UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions – said “in chronological order we list the people having lost their lives during the incidents beginning from July 20, and require UN to launch an investigation.”

“The authority of jurisdiction is predominantly in possession of the government, regarding these attacks where civilians were targeted and sacrificed. The fact that after the incidents, the government or security officials’ statements do not involve any attempt for a fair and real judicial process keeps raising doubts” said the application.

HDP co-chairs also urged, “The government hinders the investigation of the incidents, of those they have responsibility, by concealing intelligence and documents from judicial chairs. The articles in UN conventions, regarding right to live and extrajudicial execution, had been violated. Our fundamental fear is that this tense process could rise and last after these sorts of executions and mass civilian massacres. At this point, we respect the international mechanisms’ power of sanction and preventive authority. Within the UN mechanisms, we urge that an investigation should be launched.”
